Hailing from Delray Beach, Florida, 23-year-old James Trend is exploding on to the art scene with vibrant and synonymous work you simply can't miss. From Celebrities to recording artists, to Athletes, Disney, cityscapes, Louis Vuitton, Gucci to 'Beers and Brushes'- James Trend nearly does it all. We were able to get to know James a little more and see where he gained his skills to become a Jack of all trades.
James Trend began his infatuation with art at the age of 10. It started with little doodles in his school notebooks. Little animals, aliens, even some graffiti and exaggerated sketches of his teachers flooded the pages of his notebooks, "from then on, I was creatively hooked." He continued progressing and, now, he's moved from the pages of his notebook to canvas, creating contemporary pop art utilizing acrylic and spray paint. James takes inspiration from many artists from many eras. Banksy, Picasso, Basquiat, Bob Ross, Andy Warhol, and Alec Monopoly have provided a diverse array of creative processes that he emulates throughout his works. James's musical talents are where his interest in musicians and the portrayal of them comes from. His ability to stroke the keys of a piano and play a few chords on the guitar peaked his interest in this area, "I prefer these subjects because they are personal to me but, I'm always experimenting with new designs and pushing my creative boundaries."
An extremely valuable addition to James' repertoire is his entrepreneurial instinct. James created 'Beers and Brushes', an art class that he hosts at multiple bars in Boca Raton, Delray, and Palm Beach, Florida. These classes are super chill and relaxed, all you have to do is grab a Brew and a brush and with James himself, or one of his ten employees instructions, you'll be walking out with your very own masterpiece. In addition to 'Beers and Brushes,' James works on commissioned pieces for many willing customers, " I think commission pieces are healthy for the creative mind because it pushes the boundaries of what I'm comfortable doing, and pushes me to satisfy my clients to the best of my abilities." He also operates a website, jamestrenddesigns.com, where he has merchandise available for purchase as well as limited-edition canvas prints that he looks to be releasing more and more of. James has procured quite the fan base over the years which he attributes to partnering with a marketing agency that has remarkably been able to get his name out around the country.
Not only does James want to be successful in his own right, but he really attributes his drive and motivation to his parents, "Since I was born, my parents have given me everything they could possibly provide for me within their means. All I want is to give that favor back. My parents and my beautiful girlfriend motivate me to be the best I can be on the canvas and as a gentleman."
Much like his art, James' future is really bright. His plans are to continue his art career and really pursue his inner entrepreneur, taking 'Beers and Brushes' all over Florida and beyond. During these difficult times, James has few words for our readers, "I hope everyone stays safe during this pandemic, and after its over, you should all grab a beer with me, bring a brush, and come paint with me at the next Beers and Brushes event. Stay wavy baby."
